Manly Vale Project

I have just completed, with CMS, the construction of a significant rebuild and extension of a residence in Manly Vale. My role was as architect and client representative during construction, within a construction management contract to an agreed cost plan. 

I have been supervising and monitoring construction projects, commercial, institutional, and residential for over 52 years. During this time, I have experienced good and poor performance on technical capability, administrative capability, and financial control. 

Our recent experience with CMS was extremely positive on all fronts. 

Technical Capability  

The technical capability of the site manager and support staff was of the highest order, with the ability to plan ahead and understand and execute complex detailing. There was a sense of pride in “doing things properly” which gave us quality outcomes. The technical comprehension of the task underway extended to the administrative, not on-site staff. 

Administrative Capability  

Both on side and office procedures were extremely thorough and precise. Communication, verbal and electronic were thorough, prompt and up to date. We did not experience confusion or contradictions and the entire process was both clear and conflict free. 

Financial Control  

The offices systems and methods of reporting, cost control and expenditure against the cost plan, plus variations to the initial agreement were unusually rigorous and accurate. The management of this crucial aspect was extremely good and instilled trust and confidence with the client. 

Manner 

From the start the attitude Principal, Office manager to Site manager was consistently positive and helpful. Situation or problems were managed positively and not portrayed as disasters. This made the whole process stress free and positive for the client. 

Overall, the entire set of skills brought to bear on this construction process by CMS was, on balance, the most successful I have experienced in my professional career. 

I would enthusiastically recommend this company to anyone intending to embark on a complex construction project.
